Steve Mocco & Kenilworth Wrestlers |
2002: Iowa Hawkeye / NJ Wrestler Steve Mocco Comes to Kenilworth On Saturday, August 3rd, NJ's own Steve Mocco held a 3-hour wrestling clinic at the David Brearley Wrestling Room for K-Town Summer Wrestling Club. Mocco, a 4x Wrestling National Prep Champion, was the most highly recruited 2001 HS wrestler in the country and went on to take 2nd in the nation at the 2002 NCAA Tournament in Albany, NY last fall as a freshman at the University of Iowa. Many thanks to Steve Mocco from the Club - We wish him well in his quest to be a national champion.

2002: K-Town Summer Wrestling Program a Success  Under the supervision of Coach Jim Petty, K-Town sponsored a 10-week developmental program begun in May and consisting of 3 scholastic practices per week throughout the summer. Practices were held at the DBHS Wrestling Room on M, W, Th from 3:30-5:15. |

2002: 2 M.S. Wrestlers Qualify for Team NJ Conner Shannon and Jesse Boyden, Kenilworth Middle School wrestlers, qualified for Team NJ by placing first at the Schoolboy Ranking Tournament at Peddie HS in May. Both wrestlers practiced with wrestlers from throughout the state in preparation for the Team NJ trip to the Indiana Duals in June. In Indiana, Team NJ-Freestyle lost only one match by 5 points to Team Pennsylvania, who eventually took First Place, earning Kenilworth Fifth Place in the Nation. And, Team NJ-Greco went UNDEFEATED to take First Place in the Nation. The final team record was 9-1.

2002: Undefeated College Wrestler Cael Sanderson Comes to Kenilworth  On April 13, 2002, undefeated college wrestler Cael Sanderson, boasting a 159-0 record, held a 3-hour developmental clinic at David Brearley High School for wrestlers from Kenilworth and throughout the state. Cael, along with Chris Bono, asst. Iowa State Wrestling Coach & Olympic stand-out wrestler, instructed and spoke on the sport of wrestling. |
