BREARLEY SOPHOMORE TAKES FIRST IN NJ GRECO STATES
Conor Shannon, a Brearley sophomore, competed and took 1st place in the NJ Greco States held at Manalapan H.S. on May 1st. Conor competed in the 189lb Cadet division and won the finals from the clinch position in a double overtime bout. This win makes Conor eligible to participate with other NJ wrestlers on Team NJ which will travel to numerous national events over the summer.

SIGN UP FOR K-TOWN SPRING WRESTLING COACHED BY NCAA DIV. 1 CHAMPION
From April 12 - June 18, 2004, K-Town will again conduct its Spring Wrestling Club. This spring, the Club will be coached by Lehigh NCAA Division #1 National Champion Rob Rohn. In order to join, wrestlers must bring a completed registration form to the first practice along with a check payable to "Kenilworth Wrestling" for $100. In addition, all wrestlers must have a $25 USA Card. This Spring, there are 2 classes being offered:
Novice Class: Monday and Friday (3:15 pm - 4:30 pm)
Experienced Class: Monday and Friday (4:45 pm - 6:30 pm)
Wednesday (6:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

Kenilworth had 14 of its 18 K-8th grade wrestlers place in the top 8 in the NJ Kids State Tournament this year. Bantams and Midgets wrestled March 20-21 at Union H.S. and Juniors and Intermediates wrestled March 27-28 at Lakewood H.S. This year's total of qualified wrestlers, placewinners and champions is a Kenilworth Wrestling record high!

Kenilworth had 18 K-8th grade wrestlers qualify for the NJ Kids State Tournament this year. The State competition is stretched over 2 weekends with Bantams and Midgets wrestling March 20-21 at Union H.S. and Juniors and Intermediates wrestling March 27-28 at Lakewood H.S.

BEARS' RODRIGUEZ ADVANCES TO REGION 3 QUARTERFINALS
Brearley Bears' Senior Joe Rodriguez, competing at 152 lb, advances to the Region 3 Quarterfinals at Union HS on Fri, Mar 5. After a first period fall to his opponent in the Prelims, Joe is the sole Brearley wrestler this year to advance to the Region 3 Quarterfinals.

3 BEARS ADVANCE TO FIRST ROUND REGION 3 TOURNAMENT
The Brearley Bears High School team wrestled hard at the District X Tournament held at Millburn High School on Saturday, Feb 28. The Bears had 6 wrestlers place in the top four, 3 of whom will move on to compete in the first round of the Region 3 tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 2 at Union High School. The Bears team finished 7th overall in District X.

2 K-8 WRESTLERS PLACE IN SOUTH JERSEY STATES
Two of the four Kenilworth wrestlers who competed in the South Jersey State Tournament on February 15, 2004 finished in the top 3 of their weight classes. Dan Ries took 1st place in the 75lb Midget Division and Anthony Rice took 3rd place in the 58lb Midget Division. Congratulations to all wrestlers who competed in this prestigious annual state tournament.

NJGSL TEAM TAKES 2ND IN LEAGUE VARSITY TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, Febuary 14th, our New Jersey Grade School wrestling team traveled to "The Pit" in Phillipsburg, to participate in the league's end of season varsity tournament. In a field of 17 other teams, Kenilworth took 2nd place overall, a mere 4.5 points shy of the 2004 League Champion South Plainfield. Other teams participating, in finishing order, were High Point, Delaware Valley, Phillipsburg, Randolph, Flemington, Kittatiny, Voorhees, Hillsboro, Newton, Bridgewater, Watchung Hills, Warren Hills, Rahway, North Hunterdon, Belvedere and Westfield. Place winners for Kenilworth were:

Under Coach Jim Petty, the David Brearley Bruins Middle School wrestlers won their last match against South Brunswick to finish their season undefeated.

BRUINS WIN BERKELEY HTS TOURNAMENT - AGAIN!
On Sunday, Feb. 2, the David Brearley Middle School Bruins traveled to Berkeley Heights for the annual PAL team tournament. The Bruins defeated all other participating teams to take First place for the second year in a row!

PEE WEE BANTAM TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS
Kenilworth's annual Pee Wee / Bantam Tournament took place on Sunday, February 1, 2004. Kenilworth wrestled well, finishing with 3 placewinners at the Bantam level: Frank Chessa 2nd at 48 lbs, Vinny Badali 2nd at 72 lbs, Joe Balboni 1st at 85 lbs. View / print complete results.

KENILWORTH'S NJGSL TEAM FINISHES STRONG
The Kenlworth Grade School Team, coached by Joe Lospinoso and George Boyden, went 15-3 this season. The only losses were to Delaware Valley, South Plainfield and an undefeated High Point team. The team will compete on Saturday, Feb. 14, in the League's end of the season tournament at Phillipsburg High School.

CJL-A DEFEATS ROSELLE PARK - AGAIN!
On Tuesday, 1/27, Kenilworth's Recreation CJL-A wrestlers defeated Roselle Park, 53-24.

KENILWORTH'S NJGSL TEAM DOMINATES QUAD MATCH
On Sunday, 1/18, Kenilworth's NJGSL wrestlers traveled to Bridgewater to wrestle Bridgewater, Randolph and Westfield. Kenilworth defeated all 3 teams to sweep the competition. Kenilworth defeated Bridgewater 68-12, Randolph 52-31 and Westfield 91-6.

K-8 WRESTLERS TAKE 3RD AT MONTVILLE TEAM DUALS
On Saturday and Sunday, 12/20-21, Kenilworth's K-8th grade wrestlers traveled to Montville for team duals. Kenilworth defeated 4 of 6 teams to place 3rd overall.

K-8 WRESTLERS TAKE 3RD AT ROBBINSVILLE TEAM DUALS
On Sunday, 12/14, Kenilworth's K-8th grade wrestlers traveled to Robbinsville for team duals. Kenilworth defeated Lacey 99-12, but lost to Marple Newton in a close match 45-55. Kenilworth came back to beat Jackson 67-42 and capture third place overall.

KENILWORTH NJGSL SWEEPS TRI-MATCH
Kenilworth's NJGSL K-8th grade wrestlers defeat Kittatiny (51-23) and Flemington (45-39) on Saturday, 12/13, at DBHS. A fantastic pin by Anthony Giannobile in the second to last bout against Flemington provided the points needed to tie the score and enabled Kenilworth to secure the win with the last bout.

KENILWORTH K-8th GRADERS TAKE 2ND AT QUAKERSTOWN TEAM DUALS
On Saturday, 11/29, Kenilworth K-8th grade wrestlers traveled to Quakerstown, PA to compete with teams from NJ and PA. Kenilworth wrestled 4 teams and finished the day in 2nd place, losing only to the host team in the final match.

KENILWORTH WRESTLER EXCELS OVER SUMMER
Jesse Boyden, a wrestler on the Brearley Bruins Middle School team, kept busy over the summer by competing around the country. Wrestling Heavyweight, Jesse took First at the NJ Schoolboy States in Freestyle & Greco, First at the Northeast Regionals (Bloomsburg, PA) in Freestyle, Greco & Scholastic, Third at the Schoolboy Nationals (Oklahoma) in Greco and Sixth in Freestyle. Boyden also qualified for Team NJ Schoolboy Team and went 6-3 at the Indiana Schoolboy National Duals.
