BOYDEN EARNS ALL AMERICAN HONORS
During the week of July 25, Jesse Boyden competed at the Asics/Vaughan Cadet Freestyle National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. The 215 lb Union County Champion opened the competition with a hard fought 3-1 loss to the newly crowned Greco Roman National Champion and eventual Freestyle National Champion, Tyrell Fortune of Oregon. He followed with three consecutive victories, solidifying a place in the medal round before dropping his final qualifying match. Boyden then closed competition on Friday with a 7-2 win over Dillion Heesch from Iowa for 7th. Congrats Jesse.

Others Union County representatives competing at the Asics/ Vaughan National Wrestling Tournament were Darrion Caldwell and Ryan Wilson of Rahway (Freestyle), Pat Mineo of Scotch Plains HS (Freestyle) and fellow Brearley Bear, Connor Shannon (Greco-Roman).

BEARS WANDER UP TO ONECO FOR OUT OF STATE COMPETITION

FATHER'S DAY TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS!
This year's annual Father's Day tournament was again a success. 236 wrestlers from five different states competed across the three divisions. Host team Kenilworth, garnered 11 champs on the day, highlighted by two outstanding performances from home-town boys Joe Lospinoso and Travis Dilts. Both wrestlers pulled double duty on Saturday winning both the 8th grade and Under and High School divisions. David Greenwald also impressed, winning by fall over Morris Knolls Matt Eagan on his way to his third straight Father's Day crown. Other wrestlers of note were Anthony Rice and Anthony Evans who dominated their respective weight classes. Thanks again to everyone that attended and hope to see you next year. Full results...

3RD ANNUAL FATHER'S DAY TOURNAMENT - JUNE 18, 2005 at DBHS
Kenilworth Wrestling is holding its 3rd annual Father's Day Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, June 18, 2005. The Tournament will be at David Brearley High School Gym (get directions). Weigh-ins are the morning of the tournament from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. Wrestling starts between 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. The entrance fee is $20 cash per division. There are 3 divisions. Full details...

KENILWORTH'S 3RD ANNUAL FATHER'S DAY TOURNAMENT

YOUTH WRESTLERS LOOK AHEAD TO NJ KIDS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Wrestling season continues on for many of our youth wrestlers as the 2005 USAW-NJ Kids Scholastic State Championships fast approaches. The tournament takes place over several days depending on age and weight as follows: Juniors and Bantams wrestle March 19th at Union HS, Midgets and Cadets wrestle March 20, 2005 at Union HS and Intermediates wrestle March 26, 2005 at Lakewood HS.

BREARLEY BEARS' SEASON COMES TO AN END AT REGIONS
Underclassmen Anthony Evans and Jesse Boyden both see their seasons come to a halt during Region 3 competition. At 145 lbs, Evans drew two tough opponents in Jionne Lavalle (eventual champion) in the Quarters and Pete Jacangelo (eventual 3rd place finisher) in the first round of the wrestle-backs. Dropping both bouts, sophomore Anthony Evans ends his season with an impressive overall 25-10 record and was runner up in District 10. At 215 lbs, Jesse Boyden won his Quarterfinal match by injury default, but then lost his semi-final bout to Chris Birchler of Seton Hall Prep. He won his first wrestle-back match over Mike Adams of Parsippanny but lost his 3rd place match to Rob Maistackle of South Plainfield. Boyden ends his season with a 31-4 overall record placing 4th in Region 3 and runner-up in District 10.

EVANS / BOYDEN ADVANCE TO REGION 3 QUARTERFINALS
Anthony Evans scored a tech fall over Parsippany wrestler Chris Peters and Jesse Boyden registered a 59 second fall over Trevor Martin from New Providence in Wednesday's Pre-Quarters. Boyden's record increases to 29-2 and Evans' to 25-8. Both wrestlers now move on to Friday night's Quarterfinal competition. Also wrestling for the Bears was Joe Mraz and Manny Lewis who both fought hard, but dropped close decisions to their opponents.

BEARS BEGIN THEIR QUEST FOR THE STATES
Four Brearley Bears advance to Region 3 Pre-Quarters after placing in the top 3 in District 10. Joe Mraz 125 lbs 3rd, Anthony Evans 145 lbs 2nd, Jesse Boyden 215 lbs 2nd and Manny Lewis 275 lbs 3rd all move on to compete at Union HS on Tuesday night at 6pm. Only winners of Tuesday night advance to the Quarters on Friday night. GO BEARS!

RUN TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
The David Brearley High School team prepares for the Districts which begin this Friday, 2/25 at 5:30pm at Millburn HS. All wrestlers placing 1st - 3rd in their weight class at Districts will advance to the Regions. All Kenilworth wrestling fans are urged to come out and show support for the Bears at these events.

KENILWORTH NJGSL TAKES 3RD PLACE OUT OF 19 TEAMS IN TOURNAMENT
The Kenilworth NJ Grade School League Team finished a strong 3rd place out of 19 teams in the NJGSWL Varsity Tournament held at Phillipsburg on Feb. 18, 2005. With a team score of 191.5, Kenilworth was only defeated by South Plainfield with 221.5 and the winner High Point with 261.5 points. Besides a strong team finish, Kenilworth had many outstanding individual performances, including:
